British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak asked for an assessment of the developments in the war in Ukraine, according to information obtained by the BBC.

Senior officials have raised concerns that the prime minister may take a cautious approach as the war enters an important phase.

The Prime Minister's Office insists that Sunak is staunchly supportive of Ukraine.

Sunak tweeted that Britain had been with Ukraine "all the way" during a visit to Kyiv last month, his first trip abroad as prime minister.
